The Board Layout

White starts on South-Center, Black on North-Center. The goal: checkmate the opponent's King across any of the 9 boards!

💡 Tip: Watch all 9 boards - threats can come from adjacent boards!

♟️ Piece Movement

All pieces follow standard chess rules with one addition: they can cross board boundaries!

Standard Moves

  • King: One square any direction
  • Queen: Any distance horizontally, vertically, or diagonally
  • Rook: Any distance horizontally or vertically
  • Bishop: Any distance diagonally
  • Knight: L-shape (2+1 squares) - can jump over pieces
  • Pawn: Forward one (or two from starting position)

Cross-Board Movement

When reaching a board edge, pieces continue onto the adjacent board. Knights can jump across boundaries!

⚠️ Note: Castling only works within a single board. En passant works across boards.

🧠 Strategy Tips

Control the Center Board

The center board influences all 8 surrounding boards. Establish presence there early!

Use Long-Range Pieces

Queens, Rooks, and Bishops become extremely powerful when attacking across multiple boards.

Coordinate Attacks

Use pieces on adjacent boards to support each other. Create pins and forks spanning multiple boards.

💡 Pro Tip: Knights excel at quick cross-board attacks since they jump boundaries.

King Safety

Your King can be attacked from adjacent boards. Keep it protected or away from board edges.
